Creating a Land Recording System (LRS) Account
Create a Land Recording System (LRS) account
● Go to https://recorder.americaunincorporated.org
● Click the “No account?” to the right of the pink “Sign In” button on the top right-hand side of the page
● Use an email address that you control and a secure password
● Once signed up, you’ll receive an email that will contain a link. Clicking that link will verify
your email address and unlock your new LRS account
You will also need a certified birth certificate for step #4 below – order one but do not wait to complete steps 1 through 3.
Next Steps
1: Create your account
To create your new LRS account, you can use any functioning email account. This will serve as your login UserName.
To complete your account setup, simply provide the following info:
- Lawful name (first, middle, last)
- mailing address
- city/county/state of your home
- born date
For access to automated documents and for obtaining a credentials card, upload a passport-quality face photo and a high-quality photo of your thumb print (red ink on white paper).
Uploadable image types include .jpg, .jpeg, .png & .bmp (whatever your smart phone creates), .pdf’s will NOT work.
A user should have only one functioning LRS account.
2: Pay for your publishing
To pay for your publishing with a credit/debit card, go to Menu, “Order Publishing Credit” and pay the fee.
Your personal Profile, including face & thumbprint images, will need to be complete before you will see this payment menu option.
The LRS Automated Documents features can be accessed after purchasing publishing credit..
3: Generate your documents
Your LRS profile will also need to be complete, including a headshot and thumbprint image.
- Be sure your “headshot” image shows you from the shoulders & up, has a neutral
and light-colored background, and is as clear as possible (think “passport photo”). - In your “headshot” photo your shoulders should touch the bottom edge of the
image and a small gap just above your head/hair should touch the top of the image. - If you wear glasses, remove them for the “headshot” photo.
- For your thumbprint image, use red ink on white paper to create a clear “camera-ready” thumbprint.
- Your thumbprint photo must show your thumbprint from edge to edge. The idea is
to have your thumbprint show as large as possible in the photo. - Be sure to use good lighting when taking the thumbprint photo so the image is as
crisp and clear as possible.
With publishing fee paid and a completed profile, you will see a new menu option: “Create Documents”. Select this option to generate any status correction documents you require.
As you generate most documents, your personal profile information will be used to populate the body of the document. For certain documents, you may need to provide additional information. The system guides you through this process with a series of questions.
When a document has been generated, it will appear in a new browser tab as a .pdf. You can either save it to your hard drive or print it directly from your browser.
4: Record & publish documents
For documents that require notary service, contact your assembly recorder (recorder@coloradoassembly.org) or use a notary public.
Arrange for an in-person or video conference notary session. In this session, you will autograph a minimum of two copies of each document.
If you use your state recorder as a notary, your documents can also be recorded at that time. This is most efficient and also ensures that your documents are notarized by an International Notarial Witness.
If you use a notary public, send one set of notarized documents to your recorder with a self-addressed, stamped envelope so your recorded originals and an official copy can be sent back to you.
5: Order a Credentials Card
Once you have a recorded 1779 or 928 published on public record, you’ll see a new option in your LRS account for ordering your credentials card.
Prior to ordering your card, review all of your LRS account profile information, including your mailing address, as that information will be used to generate your card and to send your card to you. Be certain that your name information is properly formatted in upper/lower-case format. Also make sure your address is in a lawful format and is accurate.
Your credentials card will be produced and mailed out to you typically within 3-4 days of ordering and will be sent with tracked postage. Your real-time card order status can be tracked within your LRS account in the same view that you placed your order (Order Status tab).
